Why Our Tour Is Strictly 21+
No Exceptions. Here’s Why You Deserve Better.
The Real Reason (Not What You Think)
Yes, Texas law technically allows minors to drink with a parent or guardian present.
But here’s what the law doesn’t tell you:
Half the bars we take you to aren’t appropriate for children. Period.
What You & Others Have Paid Cash to Experience — the Island Vibe Where Adults Go on Their Time Off:
- Raw, unfiltered local bar culture
- Late-night Island Time energy
- Conversations with locals who curse, laugh loud, and don’t filter
- Music, stories, and atmosphere you can’t get at Applebee’s
- The REAL Galveston — where locals actually drink
What Happens When Kids Are on Adult Tours
(We’ve seen it. It ruins the experience for everyone.)
- Conversations get censored
- Locals leave earlier
- The bartender’s best stories stay untold
- Parents spend the whole time managing their kid instead of being present
- Everyone else’s experience gets watered down
You deserve better than that.
Our Non-Negotiable Policy:
- No one under 21. Zero exceptions.
- No international IDs claiming “it’s legal in my country”
- No “my kid is mature for their age”
- No “we’ll just skip the alcohol stops” (that’s literally the whole tour)
Valid government-issued ID required. If you’re 20 years and 364 days old, we’ll see you tomorrow.
Who This Tour IS For:
- Adults 21+ who want the real local vibe
- Couples, friend groups, solo travelers
- People who appreciate craft drinks, local bars, and unfiltered stories
- Anyone tired of tourist traps and “safe” experiences
🧒 Traveling with guests under 21?
This tour is strictly adults only — no exceptions. But my sister Karen runs Taste of the Strand — a family-friendly food tour on the same Historic Strand. Different experience, same island. If your group includes anyone under 21, that’s the right tour for your night.

The Legal Stuff (Since You’re Wondering)
Texas Drinking Age Law
In Texas, the legal drinking age is 21. Individuals under 21 are prohibited from purchasing, possessing, or consuming alcoholic beverages.
The Exception We Don’t Use
Texas law does allow minors to consume alcohol in the visible presence of their legal-aged parent, guardian, or spouse.
We choose not to allow this because:
- Our venues aren’t designed for minors — Many are 21+ establishments with adult atmospheres
- Insurance and liability — We’re not interested in being the test case
- Your experience matters more — See everything above
TABC Compliance
All participants must present valid government-issued ID at the start of each tour. We comply fully with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission regulations.
Responsible Service & Public Intoxication
We encourage responsible enjoyment, and designated drivers are a fantastic way to ensure safety. However, public intoxication remains illegal in Texas, defined as appearing in a public place while so intoxicated that you may endanger yourself or others.
During our 3-hour walking tours, which start at landmarks like Shrimp N’ Stuff near Stuttgarden, the establishments we visit and their bartenders/servers, at their discretion, may cut off any guest at any time to maintain a safe environment.
It’s also illegal to serve alcohol to anyone who is visibly intoxicated. The bartenders and servers at our partner establishments are trained to watch for signs of intoxication and are legally obligated to refuse service if a guest appears impaired, at their sole discretion. This ensures everyone on our tours, from locals to cruise passengers, enjoys their experience responsibly.
Bottom line: If you’re bringing someone under 21, this isn’t the tour for you. And that’s okay.
This tour is designed for mature adults who want to experience Galveston the way locals do — with the freedom to enjoy craft drinks at your own pace, genuine conversations without filters, and the authentic island vibe that makes this place special.
